Getting started

Is Mileage Log free?

Yes. Every feature is free. Ads pay for the app, and one purchase removes them. There is no subscription.

Do I need an account?

No. There is no account and no sign-up. Your trips stay on your phone.

Is there an iPhone version?

No. Mileage Log is an Android app.

Miles or kilometres?

Both. The app follows your phone, or Distance unit in the settings.

Recording

Does it detect trips automatically?

No, on purpose. You press Start and Arrived: no missed trips, no phantom trips, nothing running all day. See Mileage tracker.

I forgot to press Start. What now?

Add the trip by hand, from the distance or the two odometer readings. See Forgot to log a trip.

Does it drain the battery?

Only while a trip is running, like any GPS recording. Between trips, nothing runs.

Rates and taxes

Which rates does it know?

Your own, with dated changes, or presets for the US, UK, Canada, Australia, France, Germany, the Netherlands and Sweden. See Mileage rates by country.

Is the PDF accepted by the IRS or HMRC?

It lists each trip with date, places, purpose, distance and reason, which is what they ask for. Your tax authority has the final word. See What to record.

Can I bill a client for mileage?

Yes: each trip can carry a client or employer, and the claim gives the distance and amount for each.

Privacy

Does it track my location?

Only while a trip is running. Your trips stay on your phone. See Privacy.

How do I get in touch?

Write to contact@ludiccraft.com, or use Suggest an improvement in the settings.
